Junior Research Group Leader (m/f/d)

 “SiGe-based Quantum Materials & Heterostructures”

Job description: 

IKZ is seeking for a junior research group leader in the above field with a strong publication record and experience in third party funding. The successful candidate is expected to build up a third-party funded research group focusing on the materials science of group IV semiconductor-based quantum devices. Strong communication skills are required for national & international networking, in particular with groups in the area of devices & technologies. IKZ will support the activity by interdisciplinary in-house collaborations in the area of isotope pure SiGe volume crystals, state-of-the-art molecular beam epitaxy equipment and modern materials science characterization.

Requirements: 

  • PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science or related fields
  • Excellent knowledge of semiconductor materials with background in device technology as well as epitaxial growth and characterization of thin films
  • Experience in the supervision of junior scientists
  • Communication skills and the assertiveness to work in an internationally positioned institute

What we offer:

The position is limited to three years. Payment is according to TVöD-Bund (Treaty for German public service). Among equally qualified applicants, preference will be given to disabled candidates.
