The Leibniz Institute for Crystal Growth (IKZ) is a leading research institution in the area of crystal growth of technologically important materials for micro-, opto- and power electronics, sensors, optics and laser technology. This ranges from explorative fundamental research to pre-industrial development. It is part of Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. and a member of the Leibniz Association.
We are presently offering a
Junior Research Group Leader (m/f)
Topic: Growth and characterization of fluoride crystals
IKZ is seeking a highly motivated Junior Research Group Leader (0 to 3 years after PhD thesis) on the growth and characterization of fluoride crystals for lasers and other optical applications.
The successful candidate should have a proven record on scientific leadership in bulk crystal growth or a related field of research. Moreover, basic knowledge in the structural (e.g. Laue, XRD, DTA), compositional (e.g. RFA, EDX) and/or optical (e.g. absorption, luminescence) characterization is required. The IKZ is well equipped with modern set-ups for bulk crystal growth as well as for respective characterization techniques enabling in-house qualification of the grown crystals.
We are seeking a personality with a strong aim for leadership in science, including high quality scientific publications, third party acquisition, and staff management. We also expect the candidate to participate in and to steer internal and external collaborations and projects. IKZ will promote the career of the young colleague by an internal advisory board; opportunities for teaching experience are given within Berlin universities.
